'Serious Injuries' After Hospital Assault In Camp Hill, Police Say

Someone suffered "serious injuries" during an assault at Penn State Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, police announced on Monday, April 17, 2023.

Andrew John Zwierzyna, 38, of Mechanicsburg was arrested after police arrived and spoke with the victim on Saturday, April 15 around 4 p.m., according to the release.

He was charged with the following, police said and court records confirmed:

  • Aggravated Assault - Attempts to cause Serious Bodily Injury or causes injury with extreme indifference.
  • Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
  • Disorderly Conduct Obscene Language or Gesture. 

He's been held in the Cumberland County Prison after failing to post $2,000, and his preliminary hearing has been scheduled before Magisterial District Judge Michael Sanderson on April 26 at 9:15 a.m., according to his latest court docket. 

Zwierzyna has a record of simple assault in 2012 and completed an Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition Program as his sentence, court records show. 

This is the second serious assault at this hospital that Daily Voice has reported on in less than two month. The other assault involved a man trying to kill his 92-year-old father. You can read more about that incident here.
